Imagine with me that you are in the wild west. You live within the mighty walls of a fortress. Within those walls you have safety and shelter. Without the walls, there is danger around every corner. You have been selected to be part of your castles' army. Your job is to ready the horses for battle. There is much that goes into that. You must make sure the horses are well fed, they are watered, the saddles are cinched up, the reins are nice and tight and the horse is ready for battle. You do not bring home the victory...that is the job of the one riding the horse; but failure to ready the horse can keep victory from happening.
Proverbs 21:31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle; but safety (deliverance or victory) is of the Lord.
In your life, you are the horse preparer. Outside the walls of your heart is an enemy that seeks to destroy you.
Your job as the preparer of the horse is to make sure you are equipped with the right equipment to bring home the victory.
The Bible tells you to keep (guard) your heart with all diligence (Proverbs 4:23)
The victory is in the Lord's hands, He promises to make a way of escape (1 Cor. 10:13), but if you do not prepare the horses, you delay or forfeit your victory.
How can you prepare your horse (heart) for today's battle?
Feed the Horses for strength - Equip through the Word (Psalm 119:11 - Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee)
Water the Horses for endurance - Equip through Prayer (Luke 22:40 - Pray that ye enter not into temptation)
Saddle up the Horses for the journey - Equip through Song (Psalm 59:16 - But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble)
Secure the reins for direction - Equip through Direction (Psalm 37:5 Commit thy way unto the Lord, trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.)
Have you prepared your horse (heart) for today's battles? God will bring the victory, we cannot do it in our own strength; but we can fail to prepare which will cause us to fall. Have you spent time in the Word today? Have you spent time in prayer? Is the music you are listening to or singing encouraging you through biblical truths? Are you trusting in the Lord for direction for today...or are you making your own path?
Prepare your horse for today...and the Lord will bring the victory!
