Have you ever felt insignificant? Have the feeling that everyone around you has better talents? Better abilities? More popular?
The world that we live in today says that you must be popular, talented, smart and capable of climbing new heights. Because of this, many teens today feel like they are on the outside looking in. We have fallen for the worlds philosophy.
If you are feeling this way today, let me remind you of God's philosophy.
I was reading in the Gospel of Luke the other day and I started reading through the account of Mary and the angel, when Mary first finds out that she will bring the Savior into the world.
From these verses, nothing suggests to us that Mary is popular. No verse gives us the impression that Mary was super talented. In fact, all we really see from Mary is this statement:
Luke 1:38 "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it according to thy word."
God chose Mary, a young girl, not because she was popular (in fact, she would become unpopular to many around her), not because she had all the talent in the world and not because she was a straight A student.
God chose Mary for these reasons...you ready?
She was willing (Luke 1:38)
She loved her God (Luke 1:46-55)
If you are measuring your worth according to the worlds standards, then you will feel unwanted, insignificant and unable. But if you realize that God only wants those that are willing and love Him, you begin to feel loved, important and able through His strength. So today...how are you measuring your worth?
