Count the Cost

The plan is to build a tower. This tower will be a safe place for you, a place of relaxation and a place to escape the world around you. It will be a place of rest. You will enjoy that tower, but first you must build it.
Would you agree with me that before the tower is built there needs to be some planning? What will the tower look like? How much will this tower cost? These are questions that must be answered.
For sake of illustration, let's say that you do not count the cost of the building. What will most likely happen is that you will be excited to build the tower, but eventually reality of the cost will set in. You did not know it would cost this much and you do not know your next step because it was not planned out. Because the cost was not counted, quitting becomes an option.
Luke 14:28-30 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him. Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
Counting the cost is very important when building a tower is very important. Counting the cost when serving Christ is even more important. It can seem very exciting to serve the Savior at first...then the persecution for serving Him sets in. Do not give up! As Christ would tell His disciples, expect persecution! There may be a day coming when you will face severe persecution for the sake of the gospel. Have you counted that cost? Or will you give up when you face it? Do not let quitting become an option. Count the cost now, and be a dedicated disciple.
