Luke 2:19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

Life was crazy for Mary and Joseph. They needed to take a long 90 mile trek to Bethlehem to pay their taxes. The Bible tells us that Mary was great with child (Luke 2:5), so this trip was not easy. While there, they could not find a "hotel" room that was open, so their night was to be spent in a "barn."

It was at this time in Mary's life that Jesus Christ, the Messiah was born and laid in a manger. While celebrating the life of the newly born Savior, Shepherds showed up to worship Him.

Something tells me that life for Mary at this time was hectic, difficult and far from normal; yet, she still finds time to sit and meditate on what was happening...the Savior of the world has come!

If you could use one verse from Scripture to define the word meditation, it would be Luke 2:19.

I wonder if life right now for you is as hectic, difficult or far from normal as it was for Mary? And I wonder if you, like Mary, are still finding time to sit, be still and spend time with the Lord?

You will find no greater joy in life than to spend time with the Creator of joy.

Have you pondered today?
