You get a call on Friday morning..."Someone will rob your house at 10:00pm tonight."

You hang up the phone, half stunned, half scared to death. You don't know what you should do. You think for a moment: "Maybe I should spend the night at someone else's house, then I don't have to worry about being there." But then you think to yourself, "but then this person would get away with stealing whatever they want out of my house."

After processing what just transpired, you calm down and start thinking about this logically.

Maybe, the best approach to this would be to get prepared for this would be robber. What should you do to get ready? Maybe set a house alarm in case they break through the door. Maybe grab a weapon of some kind. Maybe set up a place to watch for the thief's arrival. Maybe you should have 911 dialed on your phone to call at the right time.

Bottom line...if you knew someone was coming to steal from you, you should be ready at any moment.

This is the illustration that Christ gives to us in Luke 12:39

And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

I mean it makes sense right? But why is Christ bringing this to our attention? This is a no brainer! If someone is coming, I want to be ready!! But how serious are you about that statement?

Because someone is coming.

Luke 12:37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching:

Luke 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

How ready are you for Christ to come back? No, we do not know the exact time that He is coming...BUT HE IS COMING.

Are you watching? Will He find you faithfully serving Him the moment He returns?

Christ will come as a thief in the night (1 Thess. 5:2)...will you be found watching...ready for His arrival?
